Gratitude

As the snow falls and the lights dim

the stars hide behind the gray of the cloudy night sky.

The moon rests upon a bed of water

while the sun warms all of the south.

because every year it snows

and every year we get older

every year we cry

and every year gets a little colder.

As time continues and we progress

our demons rise with every breath

we fight through tears

and broken chest

we cry out loud

from pain for rest.

The morning comes

the sun shines through

with it comes rest

some solitude

some needed peace

and guiding rays

some better nights

some sunny days.

And in the end

we all pull through

the beaming light

the gratitude.

  2. And thank you! I write longer poetry too, but I usually only share my Haikus.

    1. Why don’t you share your longer poems? I bet they’re just as beautiful.
