Catch Me

20180630_2016578748438775902882689.jpg

You told me to jump into the ocean of your heart

but I was afraid,

I reminded you that I never learned how to swim

so you promised that you would catch me

you reached up with your hands from the middle of your ocean

and softly whispered

Jump to me

so I did

I slowly undressed in order to be dressed by your waters

I removed my scarred skin

and stopped the pulse of my jaded heart

leaving myself bare to you.

I jumped into the void of your ocean afraid,

but certain that you would always be there to catch me,

and you did.

I love the imagery, but it must be my cynical side when my mind immediately went to the “fear of drowning”, whether it was in a deep blue sea or in a deep pit of a lonely heart.

    1. There is so much beauty in concurring our fears because “Everything you want is on the other side of fear.” Jack Canfield
