In The Air

“ I only need to close my eyes to feel the whispers of your love on my neck”…

Love, a four letter word that for so long meant absolutely everything to me,

my entire universe in a world of many galaxies.

Now, all that is left is a black hole of disillusion.

I lived for the oxygen that left your lips with each and every gasped ‘ I love you’ until it’s poison began to seep through the pores of my skin and slowly started to

kill me.

Your whispered love against my neck wrapped itself around my windpipe and crushed against the world I’ve built for us in my now oxygen-deprived brain of naiveness.”

  2. Perhaps, o, perhaps love shouldn’t be so dramatic. I think love just is. And it soothes. Now, lust, don’t get me started on lust.

    1. The dramatics is what keeps it interesting! This poem is part of a series, tomorrow I post the other side of Heartbreak! Lust is just as beautiful 🌙

I loved the way you broke the fifth and seventh stanzas with ‘kill me’. Very powerful.
